Tolley House History
The Tolley House was built in the mid 19th century for Lem Motlow, who then deeded the house to his sister. His sister was married to John Tolley, and their son Lem (The second master distiller of Jack Daniel's after Jack Daniel), along with his wife Ethel, lived in the house until the 1980's. The house was renovated and later sold to Homer and Nelda Campbell who lived in the estate for 19 years until selling it to its current proprietors, Frank and Karen Fletcher. Karen Fletcher is the Daughter of Jack Daniel's Master Distiller Frank Bobo, who trained under Master Distiller Lem Tolley. Karen Fletcher's great great aunt is Mary Bobo, who founded the famous Aunt Mary Bobo's boarding house only a mile away from the Tolley House. This house and its proprietors are an integral part of Lynchburg's rich cultural history, and your stay here will be truly memorable.
